Living in West Ham
One of London’s Up-And-Coming Neighbourhoods

About the Area – West Ham Guide
West Ham was once part of an ancient parish located in the county of Essex. It was included in the Greater London area in 1965after the London Government Act of 1963 was passed. It is located north of the River Thames and east of the River Lea. Its neighbours are Stratford and Canning Town, Poplar and Bromley-by-Bow.
Part of the Newham Borough in East London, West Ham has great links to the London Underground, the London Overground, the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and also the National Rail. London City Airport is also easily accessible to residents. The area is very attractive for first-time buyers, young families and investors.
West Ham is a melting pot of cultures and ethnicities. Its residents work together to develop and strengthen the community and continuously invest in promising new small businesses that attract new and better crowds of clients. The area is also included in the New Deal for Communities regeneration programme and new developments are either under construction or in the planning stage.
This medley of cultures also means that there is no shortage of dining options and diverse culinary experiences in West Ham. The many local bars, restaurants and bistros offer residents and visitors one-of-a-kind experiences.
For outdoor activities, residents can visit the West Ham Park or the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, home to a wide array of entertainment and sport-related options for all ages and inclinations.
