Romford is an East London neighbourhood that will soon be transformed. The investments announced by the Mayor of London and the coming of the Crossrail are bound to change the face of this suburban area for good. Although property prices have been increasing here for some time, securing a Romford property now promises to deliver great yields for buy-to-let investors and first-time home buyers alike.
Commuters are attracted to Romford for its reliable transport services and links. The current 30-minute commute to Liverpool Street Station is expected to become even shorter once the Elizabeth Line makes its way here. On the other hand, Romford attracts young families looking to get onto the property ladder. They are drawn in by the affordable properties in larger and larger numbers. And, for good reason. Romford homes are more spacious and cheaper than most other areas in London.
Romford estate agents have seen interest in the area increasing in the last 5-10 years and expect the area’s planned developments to attract an even higher number of new residents. The Mayor of London has included Romford in the list of 30 London Housing Zones that will benefit from accelerated housing development. There is massive potential for growth here with investments estimated at £1.1 billion. Plans are being put in place for building 3304 new homes in Romford, out of which 731 will be affordable. Romford is also one of the main metropolitan centres comprised in the London Plan – the new development strategy for Greater London.

This suburban neighbourhood is 14 miles from Charing Cross and it is neighboured by extensive local and forest parks.Romford combines small-town charm and metropolitan hustle in its own unique way and attracts an increasing number of residents due to its low home prices and accessible transport links.
Romford is included in massive development projects announced by the Mayor’s office. First, there is the new Crossrail connection that will improve commute times to Central London even further. There’s also talk about a future extension of the East London Transit here. Then, there is the area’s inclusion in the Housing Zones, which will bring about major investments and deliver over 3,000 new homes as well as 6600 construction jobs. Romford will also benefit from investments included in the London Plan for the development of the Greater London area. Finally, its other major benefits are its affordable properties and access to a wide range of green areas sitting within short distance from its centre. With so many advantages, it’s easy to see why Romford is becoming somewhat of a property hotpot in East London.
